I started walking each day

which resulted in me burning more calories than I consumed

I went vegetarian

which resulted in me burning more calories than I consumed

I tried XX new diet

which resulted in me burning more calories than I consumed

I reduced my meal portion sizes

which resulted in me burning more calories than I consumed

I stopped snacking

which resulted in me burning more calories than I consumed

I reduced my sugar intake  and didn’t replace it by over-eating anything else

On the other hand, you could try one of the above options and still end up consuming more calories than you burn each week… and gain weight.

There are 2 steps to weight loss

  1. burn more calories than you consume (quantity)
  2. consume adequate nutrients, particularly protein and fibre from veg (quality) to ensure that the lost weight comes from excess body fat and not lean muscle.

I wish we would stop arguing about who’s way is better to achieve weight loss. All methods are fine as long as they result in a calorie deficit.

Choose the method that best fits in with your life, your taste preferences and is as close to your regular routine as you can manage.
