What’s the best way to lose weight?

It’s New Years Day.

Your world is about to become bombarded with weight loss messages. I am fed up with all of the lies and manipulation. I felt compelled to get up and write you this today.

I would love for you to share it if you find it useful. Let’s stop all of the confusion and empower people to choose their own best way for weight loss.

Does any of the following sound familiar?

  • “I lost weight with the Paleo diet. Its the best and only way. Everyone should do it”
  • “I lost weight with Weight Watchers. It was great. You should try it”
  • “I lost weight by running hours each day. Worked for me, I am sure it will work for you too”
  • “I lost weight by going low carb, (or low fat, or by quitting sugar, or meal replacement shakes or insert any other method that you might think of), It’s the best and only way. Everyone should do it”

To me, these statements are as silly as the following…

  • “I got rich by getting a second job. It’s the best and only way to get rich. Everyone should do it”
  • “I built wealth by investing in shares. Worked for me. I am sure it will work for you”
  • “I got richer by starting my own business. Its great. I highly recommend it for everyone”
  • “I got rich by cutting down on my expenses and saving more. Its the best and only way.

We know that these are  methods you can use to increase your wealth. They all work as long as the method results in you earning more than you spend (or spending less than you earn, depending on how you want to look at it).

We don’t (usually) go around arguing who’s way is best. We recognise that they can all work as long as the outcome of money surplus at the end of the week occurs.

Money surplus =  wealth increase. (The method can vary)

Why can’t we quit arguing about who’s method is the best for weight loss. Weight loss happens when you burn more calories than you consume (or consume less than you burn). The method can change for each and every individual.

Calorie deficit = Weight loss. (The method can vary)

**Just because a method worked for you , doesn’t mean it will be the best choice for someone else. The outcome of a calorie deficit is what’s important.

This is great news for you !!

This means that there are no hard and fast rules you need to follow. There is no magic timings of meals. No magic combining of foods. No magic exercise formula. No perfect diet for everyone.

Burn more calories than you consume each day + get enough protein so that you don’t lose muscle.
