OPRAH !!!
To say that I am a fan is an understatement. Oprah is my idol. She has been for most of my adult life.
It has always been a bucket-list item to see her live. Last night my Oprah bucket-list came true. I am a very happy girl.
Here are 10 lessons I learned from Oprah.
** A big thanks to my Oprah girlfriends who pitched in with their own lessons learned (pictured here with me at pre Oprah dinner and drinks)
1. You are 100% responsible for the energy you bring to a situation.
You have only a little control over WHAT happens. You have complete control over how you respond to it.
2. You have no control over anyone else.
Let that sh!t go. Their party, their circus. Not my problem.
3. Follow your gut (intuition)
If you have to ask other people’s opinion of the big questions in your life, something is probably not right.
4. No is a complete sentence.
Learn how and when to say it (often if necessary)
5. You get more of what you focus on.
Focus on the complaints and worries of your life… you get more to complain and worry about.
Focus and be grateful for all of the wonderful aspects of your life… you get more to be grateful for.
6. Every action has an equal reaction
A tiny little decision and action in a new direction can lead you to a whole new path in life.
7. Everyone wants to be heard and know that they matter
Even Barrack Obama, even Beyoncé. Its the human thread. “Did you hear me? Was I good enough? Do you value me?”
8. You become what you believe about yourself (not what you want)
9. You can achieve anything you set your mind to
Don’t let anyone steer you off course or bring you down.
10. Surrender
This was my personal favourite lesson and the one I needed to hear the most. I can definitely cling way too tight to my wants, goals and dreams.
When I desperately want and need something to happen, I send out a message to bring me more “wanting and needing”.
When I believe and surrender (give in, not give up), it usually comes easily and with much less effort.
Oprah described the power of this so beautifully with the story of her wanting a part in the colour purple movie, then finally surrendering.
These lessons were not new to me.
I have heard them before.
I have heard most of them from Oprah before.
Sometimes you don’t need to hear or learn something new. Sometimes you just need to hear it at the right time.
This is what happened to me last night.
This I will take into my 2016 goals and life.

Thank you Oprah.
Thank you to my wonderful girlfriends who joined me.
Thank you to those of you who are reading this now.
