Lesson 5 – Common (but hidden) causes of weight gain around your middle

Wow,

I did NOT realise this was such a big problem.
.
I while back I posted a question on my facebook page
about people getting less than 8 hours sleep per night
and if they hold extra weight around their middle.
The response was overwhelming.
.
It is one of the big areas of research at the moment,  in regards to fat loss –
How sleep… or rather lack of sleep affects us so negatively.
.
I mean, we all sort of know this at one level, but to see the statistics
and the evidence based research was astounding.

 ———————————————————————
In one very reliable study – a group of healthy people changed their sleep patterns
from 6 hours a night to 8 hours a night.
That is the ONLY thing they changed. No change in food or exercise.
Those subjects lost an average of 6cm from their waist in 10 weeks.
.
Lack of sleep results in cortisol (the stress hormone)
This hormone causes us to hold more weight around our tummies
and eat more often and crave more of the wrong foods.
.
Any chronic stress would also cause this weight gain around the middle area.
.
If you are a “short sleeper”, please aim to lengthen your sleep patterns
and see if it makes a big difference to your weight.
.

Sleep tight for a slimmer and healthier you.
